Founded in 2016, Por Grace A.C. It is the culmination of our work for the legalization of medical cannabis to improve the quality of life of our daughter Grace Elizalde.<\/p>\n

Graciela Elizalde Benavides, whom we affectionately call Grace, was diagnosed as a child with a rare and severe form of childhood epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS). Today at 14 years old, thanks to her treatment based on CBD and the hard fight of her parents to obtain protection for her medicinal use, Grace has reduced her attacks by just over 90%, allowing you to have a better quality of life.<\/p>\n

Treatment options for patients with epilepsy are very limited, and we explore them all. Grace saw many specialists and tried a variety of conventional and first-generation anticonvulsants to control her epilepsy. In addition, she underwent a radiosurgery callosotomy, and we even opted for alternative treatments, but none managed to reduce her seizures.<\/p>\n

As a family we exhausted all possible resources to offer her a better quality of life, and the fact of seeing her in a state of lethargy affected us too much.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was when we found that in countries like the United States, Canada, Spain, Uruguay and Brazil, many children with conditions similar to those of Grace had been treated with Cannabidiol (CBD), an oil derived from Cannabis, without the psychotropic effects, in various studies, more than 84% of patients had seen noticeable improvements and the negative effects were almost nil, unlike the conventional medications that Grace had been prescribed.<\/p>\n

In Mexico, we went to several health instances to obtain access to Cannabidiol legally, but we were denied. Given this, we issued an amparo trial, finally winning in 2016, and making Grace the first Mexican patient to consume medicinal cannabis legally.<\/p>\n

Fue cuando encontramos que en pa\u00edses como Estados Unidos, Canad\u00e1, Espa\u00f1a, Uruguay y Brasil, muchos ni\u00f1os con padecimientos similares a los de Grace hab\u00edan sido tratados con Cannabidiol (CBD), un aceite derivado de la Cannabis, sin los efectos psicotr\u00f3picos, En diversos estudios, m\u00e1s del 84% de los pacientes hab\u00edan visto mejoras notorias y los efectos negativos fueron casi nulos, a diferencia de los medicamentos convencionales que se le hab\u00edan prescrito a Grace.<\/p>\n

En M\u00e9xico, acudimos a varias instancias de salud, para obtener acceso al Cannabidiol de manera legal, pero se nos fue negado. Ante esto emitimos un juicio de amparo, gan\u00e1ndole por fin en 2016, y convirti\u00e9ndo a Grace en la primera paciente mexicana en consumir cannabis medicinal de manera legal.<\/p>\n
